Sgt. Slaughter (Wrestler or G.I. Joe Character?)

First, Sgt. Slaughter was a wrestler.  Then Sgt. Slaughter became a character in the G.I. Joe series, although it was base on real life Sgt. Alvin York.  The G.I. Joe figure was the first such figure to be accurately based on a real character (the wrestler).  William "the Fridge" Perry was the second.
At the Motor City Comic Con, I ran into a Sgt. Slaughter wanna-be, complete with puffed arm muscles.  I had to get a picture with the character (wrestler or G.I. Joe action figure).  I later saw the Sarge with the rest of his G.I. Joe crew and realized this character was the action figure kind.
It all made sense (or got more confusing) when I later saw another Sgt. Slaughter.  This one was a bit less buff (okay, he had a paunch).  This costumed person was obviously going for the wrestler.  Either that or he just did his best and didn't care what others thought of his effort.
Are you confused now (are you even still reading?)?  This is the sort of stuff that happens when you see two Sgt. Slaughters (and many other comic book heroes) at a comic con!
