Mindy Sterling was not in BJ and the Bear! Despite what IMDB and Wikipedia states, I know this as a fact, straight from the mouth of Mindy Sterling herself. I learned this after making the mistake of listing it among other credits as I asked Ms. Sterling about her various roles.
This all took place at the 2012 Motor City Comic Con, where we had the opportunity to talk to Ms. Sterling for several minutes. Despite tripping myself on that question, I was very happy with the interview. Ms. Sterling couldn't have been any nicer.
Perhaps best known for her role as Frau Farbissina in the Austin Powers movies, Sterling has appeared in many roles on tv and in films. I was following this line when I asked about her favorite role and then listed a handful of tv shows, inaccurately including BJ and the Bear. I am continually learning as an interviewer. Simply put, my point was that she had appeared in so many productions, in so many genres. Despite me fumbling the question, Sterling gave us a solid answer and a fun interview.
In the interview we talked about her start, her roles and other fun stuff. She was warm, funny and engaging. I had a great time sitting down with Ms. Sterling. I was already a fan of her work through the years, but I walked away with a whole new appreciation for this classy lady!
