Friendly Encounters: Matt Parker and Calvin Murphy

Friendly Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

Sometimes I stretch the boundaries of the definition of "meeting" celebs.  It's my site though.  I can do what I want.
A couple years ago, Matt, Scott and I attended a Houston Rockets game and were sitting about 20 feet away from Calvin Murphy as he was doing broadcasting.  More precisely, that is Rockets legend and NBA Hall of Famer Calvin Murphy.
When you are talking about Rockets royalty like Murph, you are allowed to stretch the limit for a Friendly Encounter.  To be fair, we did communicate with Murph later.  We were just unable to get any closer for a picture.
Murphy spent his entire 13 year NBA career with the Rockets, although the first year was spent in San Diego.  Although undersized, he earned his way into the NBA Hll of Fame.
If there was a Johngy's Beat Hall of Fame (and why isn't there one yet?), Matt would be a first ballot choice.  As THE Contributor Extraordinaire, his footprint is all over the Beat.
There you have it, the big and the small of this Friendly Encounter.  Sorry, I just couldn't help myself there.
