Mike Murphy was a long-time radio personality on the Score in Chicago. He was also a long-time Cubs fan (going back to the original "bleacher bums").
At a White Sox game last year, I thought I recognized his voice from the group sitting behind us. I checked with Matt, but we still were not sure. I had to ask the man himself.
Sure enough, it was Murph. This was a first for me. I rarely recognize celebrities even when I am looking at them. Recognizing one by voice was a new one for me. Of course, I was definitely familiar with Murph's voice from listening to him for so many years.
We talked or a bit, but I did not want to intrude on his time with his friends. Later in the game, they got up to walk around the park. I happened to be at the concession stand as they walked by. I took that opportunity to get a picture with Murph. Later, when I looked at my camera, I noticed my dad had unintentionally photo-bombed me! (I think that was a first for my dad.
