Pierre-Cédric "Nacho" Labrie delighted the fans at last Tuesday night's game by scoring a hat trick. The feat paced the Rockford IceHogs to a 5-2 victory over their division rival Milwaukee Admirals.
Labrie has had an interesting career. He quit pro hockey at 17, when he was cut, but fortunately, he restarted his career, eventually making it to the NHL with the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2011-12 season. He signed with the Chicago BlackHawks prior to the 2014-15 season and has since been playing with the IceHogs.
Last season he scored 9 goals with 7 assists for 16 points. This season in fewer games, he has already netted 18 goals with 10 assists for 28 points.
Naturally, Labrie was in a very jovial mood during the post-game media session. He even thanked the fans for the hats, including the one he was sporting. Lest anyone think Labrie hogged (no pun intended) all of the hats, I saw him hand out a few to young fans hanging around after the game. It's that type of interaction which makes him special and wins fans for life.
