Mercedes Russell Loves Johngy's Beat

After a successful career at the University of Tennessee, Mercedes Russell was selected by the New York Liberty in the second round (22nd overall) of the 2018 WNBA Draft. After just two games with the Liberty, Russell was waived, but then signed with the Seattle Storm.

In three seasons, Russell has played in 80 games, starting 32. She has averaged 4.7 points per game, with .7 assists, .6 steals and 3.9 rebounds. The Storm have won two titles in the last three seasons.

I was proud to cover the Storm here and for GlobalWomensSportsRadio.com and GlobalTraveler.com. It was a lot of fun interviewing the team through Zoom media sessions.

Recently, Russell was kind enough to send a shout out to Johngy's Beat. It's always extra cool when to have the support from a champ! In turn, I appreciate Russell and the entire Storm organization. I encourage everyone to go to Storm.WNBA.com to learn more about Russell and her champion teammates.
