Cards That Never Were: Marty Perez Mids Topps 1978

Cards That Never Were is a recurring series in which I create digital trading cards for players missed in various sets. It is a concept I have borrowed from far too many to list, but I appreciate all of their efforts. Mids is a subset that features cards of players traded to a new team before a card could be made of the previous team.

I previously posted regular missing cards for former infielder Marty Perez. None of those cards showed him with the New York Yankees, a team for which he played one game in 1977. Perez started Spring Training with the San Francisco Giants, but was traded to the Yankees before the season. Near the end of April, he was traded again, this time to the Oakland A's. His 1978 card showed him with the A's, although it was an airbrushed picture. I want all of any player's teams to be represented in card form, even if it was just one game.

When I set out to make a '78 card of him with the Yankees, I saw Lynn from the Custom Baseball Cards Facebook group again already did the honors. No need to duplicate things, especially when Lynn is such a master. Seriously, Lynn has posted hundreds (thousands?) of card creations and not just baseball cards, despite the name of the group. This Perez "mid" is one of my all time favorites.
