Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing sports jerseys. Today, I continue my season-long alphabetical journey through all Major League Baseball teams.
Born in North Carolina, Richard Lee Petty became "the King" of racers. During his legendary career on the track, Petty racked up numerous awards and accolades. As the son of Lee, Richard is a second generation racer. He is also the father of racer Kyle and grandfather of the late Adam, who tragically died in a practice crash. Petty wore his trademark hat while being celebrated by the Tampa Rays and earning his Celebrity Jersey Card.
A native of Florida, Aric Almirola is a professional stock card racer. While not quite as accomplished as the aforementioned Petty, Almirola has earned several awards from his 1030+ races. His grandfather was a dirt sprint driver. Almirola took BP with the Rays to get his Celebrity Jersey Car. Unlike in racing, he wanted several hits. He wore #43, which was most recently worn by Harold Ramirez and possibly most notably by Esteban Yan.
