Celebrity Jersey Cards #759: Allison Schmitt & Claressa Shields

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards fo celebrities wearing jerseys.

Born in Pittsburgh, Allison Schmitt grew up in Michigan and became a four-time Olympian and a ten-time Olympic medalist in various swimming events. Schmitt has won twenty-five medals in international competitions. Schmitt earned her Celebrity Jersey Card tossing a cermonial pitch for the Detroit Tigers.

Pro boxer and former professional mixed martial artist Claressa Shields was born in Flint, Michigan. She is the only boxer, female or male, to hold all four major world titles in boxing (WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO) in three weight classes. In 2022, Shields had a street named after her in Flint. She earned her Celebrity Jersey Card while throwing a first pitch for the Tigers.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #758: Dylan Baker & Johnny Knoxville

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards fo celebrities wearing jerseys.

Born in Syracuse, New York and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, Dylan Baker has gone on to a solid acting career. His first recurring role was on Murder One, but that's just one part on his lengthy resume. Baker also narrates many audiobooks. Baker appeared in the Big Slick Celebrity Softball Classic in Kansas City. Big Slick is a fantastic charity event I hope to attend some day. Baker shows decent form, but it looks like it might end up as a pop up. It makes a good action Celebrity Jersey Card.

Phillip John Clapp was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and adopted that city name as his surname. Knoxville has made a living doing goofy stunts and pranks, but he was serious at the Big Slick Celebrity Softball game. Knoxville was focused and ready at bat and didn't do any of his usual shenanigans. I'm not a huge fan of his act, but I respect his success. I also respect him for giving his time to the cause. That merits a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #757: Gabriel Landeskog & Jim Montgomery

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards fo celebrities wearing jerseys.

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Gabriel Landeskog was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2011 NHL draft. Knee injuries seemed to end his career after the 2021-22 season, but he made a comeback last season. He played two games in the AHL, but did not play in the NHL. If his career is done, it has been a great career. He's been Rookie of the Year, Calder Trophy winner and a Stanley Cup champ. He hoisted that cup when the Colorado Rockies saluted him to earn his Celebrity Jersey Card.

Canadian Jim Montgomery had a successful playing career at the University of Maine. He then went on to play pro hockey from the 1993-94 season through 2004-05. Then he embarked on a coaching career, which eventually led him to the University of Denver. When he tossed a ceremonial pitch for the Rockies he wore their glorious purple jersey and landed on a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards: #756 Kayla Harrison & Kathrine Switzer

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series featuring celebrities wearing sports jerseys. Today, I am still making my way alphabetically through Major League Baseball.

A native of Ohion, Kayla Harrison is a professional mixed martial artist. As of June, she was ranked #3 in the UFC women's pound-for-pound rankings. She also won gold medals in two Olympics and more in World Championships, Pan American Games and elsewhere. Although she earned her Celebrity Jersey Card with a ceremonial pitch, methinks she might have been better as a Designated Hitter (sorry).

Born in Germany, Kathrine Switzer is a Marathon runner, author and broadcaster. In 1967, she became the first officially registered woman competitor in the Boston Marathon. Despite an attack by race Manager Jock Semple, she was able to complete the Marathon, but women were banned from competing against men until 1972, when the Boston Marathon established a woman's division. In later years, Semple and Switzer mended the rift and became friends. A true Boston icon, Switzer was honored by the Red Sox and now by me with a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #755 Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Eden & Paige

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series featuring celebrities wearing sports jerseys. Today, I feature WWE women celebrating the Rugby World Cup, which starts today and runs through Sunday.

Hailing from Limerick, Ireland, Rebecca Quin is best known as multi-time champ Becky Lynch in the WWE. "The Man" or "Becky Two Belts" stepped away from wrestling to have a child with husband Seth Rollins, but she came back and will undoubtedly add more belts to her shelf. Naturally, Lynch repped Ireland on her Rugby Celebrity Jersey Card.
She was Sasha Banks in the WWE, before she joined AEW as Mercedes Mone. (I'm fairly sure she will return to the WWE at some point, but not sure which name she'll use). Banks repped Japan for the photo shoot, but is of German and African American descent. She is a cousin of Snoop Dogg and she shares her birthday with me (she's a lot younger and cuter though).
Repping the USA, Eden is perhaps better known as Brandi Rhodes (aka the wife of Cody Rhodes. A grad of the University of Michigan, Brandi wrestled for a short while, before becoming an executive with All Elite Wrestling. With Cody back in the WWE, Brandi retired, but you never really retire in wrestling.
Saraya-Jade Bevis comes from a wrestling family, including her parents, brothers and nephew. Like the previous three women wrestlers, Paige worked for the WWE before departing for AEW. Many also predict her return to the WWE, but injury concerns might prevent that. Her injuries are the given reason for WWE not clearing her to wrestle and her decision to leave. Paige repped her native England for this photo shoot.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #753: Jerry DePizzo & Josh Wolf

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

Ohio native Jerry DePizzo is a former Ohio State student and the saxophonist/guitarist in O.A.R. (Of A Revolution), having met founding band members and joining the band while at OSU in 2000. He also owns (or owned?) a couple businesses. The Tampa Rays had DePizzo toss a ceremonial pitch, which landed him on a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Entertainer Josh Wolf was born in Boston, but moved around a bit early in his entertainment career. A cousin of actor Scott Wolf, Josh is a frequent talk show guest, while also having hosted his own show. He tossed a first pitch for the Tampa Rays and landed on a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #751: Hal Sparks & David Morse

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards fo celebrities wearing jerseys.

Z is for Zoltan, which comes from Dude, Where's My Car, the 2000 movie starring Hal Sparks. That lead to his customary hand signal, which is shown on his Celebrity Jersey Card. In 2012, the Pittsburgh Pirates began using the Z sign to stop a 19-game losing streak. Born in Cincinnati, Sparks is an accomplished actor and comedian. Along with another traveler, Sparks used CPR on a man who collapsed in an airport in 2010.

Born in Massachusetts, David More got his big break when he landed a role on St. Elsewhere. He went on to many films and series, including House. Having several food allergies, Morse prepares most of the food he eats. Morse tossed a ceremonial pitch for the Pirates to land on a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #750: Jamie Foxx & Chris Kattan

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

Born in Texas, Eric Marlon Bishop rose to fame as entertainer Jamie Foxx. His breakout role was on tv's In Living Color, which was followed by The Jamie Foxx Show. Foxx has enjoyed success as an actor and musician. For his Celebrity Jersey Card, Foxx earned extra points by wearing a Philadelphia Philliea cap. He s not related to Phillies Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx (if you couldn't figure out that info).

California native Chris Katan hot it big on tv's Saturday Night Live. Kattan went on to several acting roles, as well as doing voiceover work. Kattan has endured several surgeries to heal a broken neck suffered doing a stunt on SNL.Kattan gets extra points for going full out with the uniform for his Celebrity Jersey Card. His #34 was worn by many Phillies, but Roy Halladay would probably be the most noteworthy.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #749: BC Jean & Diana Ferrer

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

A native of San Diego, Brittany Jean Carlson is better known as BC Jean. She is perhaps best known for singing "If I Were a Boy," gained her notice. Jean has performed several times for her home town San Diego Padres, thus earning a Celebrity Jersey Card.
A gradof San Diego State University, Diana Ferrer is a musician based in San Diego. She has her own band, The Diana Ferrer Band and is also a personal trainer. Along with BC Jean, Ferrer performed with Liquid Blue, a pop rock and cover band. Also like Jean, Ferrer performed for the Padres and got her Celebrity Jersey Card because of that.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #748: John Harbaugh & Kimmie Meissner

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

Born in Toledo, Ohio, John Harbaugh is the older brother of former NFL QB Jim Harbaugh. The Harbaugh brothers are the first set of brothers to be head coaches in the NFL. They also are the first to face each other in the Super Bowl. The elder Harbaugh played defensive back at Miami University before embarking on his coaching career. After several coaching stints elsewhere, Harbaugh became Head Coach of the Baltimore Ravens in 2008. While at Miami University, Harbaugh was roommates with the late wrestler Brian Pillman. When the Baltimore Orioles had Harbaugh toss a ceremonial pitch, he wore #3, which was worn by several Orioles, although none were too notable. I'll go with Johnny Berardino, who went on to fame on tv's General Hospital. Harbaugh does lose a point for wearing a dress shirt under his jersey on his Celebrity Jersey Card.

Kimmie Meissner was norn in Towson, Maryland and went on to be a highly decorated figure skater. The youngest competitor at the 2006 Olympics, she was inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2020. Like a tue competitor, Meissner went all in for her ceremonial pitch, looking to the catcher for her sign. I think that is the first such pose on a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards: #747 Kate Ledecky & Helen Maroulis

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

Born in Washington, D.C. Katie Ledecky is the most decorated female swimmer in history and the most decorated American woman in Olympic history, with a total of 14 Olympic medals, including nine golds. A Stanford grad, Ledecky is still active and adding to her numerous records. It is cool to see a native DC'er toss a first pitch for the Nats.. That deserves a Celebrity Jersey Card.

A native of Rockville, Maryland, Helen Maroulis grew up to be a champion amateur wrestler. A holder of many records and medals, Maroulis she is the first American to win a gold medal in women's freestyle wrestling at the Olympics. Maroulis showed a power move in scooping up one of the Presidential mascots at a Nationals game. That feat of strength earned her a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards # Mickie James & Drew McIntyre

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

Born in Virginia, Mickie James grew up to be a multi-tme champ in both WWE and Impact Wrestling. She rose to fame in the "Divas" era, but James was much more than a diva in the ring. She was one of the best workers of any era. She also dabbled in music and was quite good. James has been with husband Nick Aldis since 2014.James hed some sort of New York Mets title belt on her Celebrity Jersey Card. It could make an interesting event if each team had a wrestler rep them in some sort of tournament. Picking the winner would probably be the problem, I suppose.

Named "The Chosen One," Drew McIntyre has had a career resurgence since his return to the WWE. No offence to McIntyre, but the aforementioned Nick Aldis would have been a better choice for a Celebrity Jersey Card partner of Mickie James. For his Celebrity Jersey Card, McIntyre wears #9 worn by many Mets, but I'll go with outfielder George "The Stork" Theodore for the polar opposites in body size.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #745: Gloria Estefan & JoJo Offerman

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams. Today I feature two Cubans repping the Florida Marlins.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Gloria Estefan rose to fame with her future husband Emilio in the Miami Sound Machine. Estefan went on to have a great solo career, too. The couple has two children, a son and daughter. In a bit of a miracle, their daughter was born after doctors told them Gloria wouldn't be able to bear children after a tour bus crash. The Florida Marlins celebrated Estefan by inviting her to throw a ceremonial pitch, which landed her on a Celebrity Jersey Card. She is wearing the #32, probably most-notably worn by pitcher Alex Fernandez.

Born in Bayamo, Cuba, Felo Ramirez had a legendary 72 year broadcasting career. Among his highlights was calling the action for 40 Caribbean World Series. He was the Spanish announcer for the Marlins from 1993-2017. Ramirez died in 2017, but he will always be a part of the Marlins legacy. The team celebrated him on the field which allowed Ramirez to earn a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #744: Brian Agler & Brock Huard

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

A native of Ohio, Brian Agler rose to fame as a coach in college, the American Basketball League and the WNBA. During his career, Agler's awards and accomplishments include ABL Coach of the Year Award (1997), 2× ABL champion (1997, 1998), WNBA Coach of the Year Award (2010) and 2× WNBA champion (2010, 2016). Agler tossed a ceremonial pitch for the Seattle Mariners to earn his Celebrity Jersey Card. Agler's connection to Seattle stems from his years coaching the WNBA Seattle Storm, including leading the team to a championship.

Brock Huard's connection to Seattle runs deep. He was born there, went to the University of Washington and played four seasons (over two stints) with the Seahawks. Since retiring, Huard has done broadcast work in different roles for several outlets. The Seattle Mariners invited Huard to toss a ceremonial pitch which landed him on a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #743: Jane Campbell & Jim Tressel

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing sports jerseys. Today, I get political, but only in a virtual trading card way.

Born in Michigan, Jane Campbell graduated from the University of Michigan before earning her Master's degree at Cleveland State University. Campbell worked with several community organizations, before entering politics. Eventually, she became Cleveland's first Mayor. After her term, she stayed in politics and community service. She also threw a ceremonial pitch for the Cleveland Indians (Guardians) to earn her Celebrity Jersey Card.

A native of the Cleveland, Ohio area, Jim Tressel played quarterback in college before embarking on a lengthy coaching career. He also has served as the 67th lieutenant governor of Ohio since 2025. As a coach and in his current political position, Tressel has always been a big proponent of education. Tressel tossed a ceremonial pitch for the Indians to earn his Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #742: Maddie B & Jordan Knight

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series featuring virtual trading cards I crreated for celebrities wearing sports jerseys.

Born in Los Angels, California, but raised in San Francisco, Maddie B began performing as a toddler. She has performed in a traveling musical, as well as tossing ceremonial pitches for the Oakland A's and San Francisco Giants, which landed her on a Celebrity Jersey Card. Maddie has done work to raise money for cancer research. Info can be a bit difficult to find, since a lot of search results show another singer (MattyB), but her music is worth the effort.

A native of Massachusetts, Jordan Knight soared to fame as the lead vocalist  with boy band New Kids on the Block. Post-NKOTB, Knight has kept active on the music scene. He also got marred and became a partner in a local restaurant near his home in Massachusetts. I don't know any connection with the Giants, but his picture merited a Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #741 Florence Henderson & Danielle Fishel

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams. Today I feature two television favorites.

Born in southwest Indiana, Florence Henderson had a lengthy career in show business, but will always be best known for her role on tv's The Brady Bunch. I never met Henderson and never will, as she died at the age of 82 in 2016. After her main stint as Carol Bray, she appeared on several game shows and other episodic television, along with reprising her role several times for Brady-related projects. Henderson was saluted bu the Los Angeles Dodgers to earn her Celebrity Jersey Card.

A native of Arizona and a grad of California State University, Danielle Fishel is best known for her role as Topanga on tv's Boy Meets World. Back then, a teenage boy's dream, now at 43, Fishel still is stunning. More important, she is a sweetheart. After meeting her for the first time at a convention, we had a goofy waving game going all weekend every time I passed her both. She even asked for a selfie on the last day. Topanga wanted a selfie! Now that is surreal. Fishel was on the field as the Dodgers had a salute to BMW. In addition to making a Celebrity Card, she gets extra points for dropping into the catcher's stance.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #740 Diana Taurasi & Jagger Eaton

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

Recently retired WBNA legend Diana Taurasi was born in California, but spent her entire career with the Phoenix Mercury. While playing for the University of Connecticut, Taurasi's team won three NCAA championships. In her 20 seasons with the Mercury, the team won three WNBA titles. Of course, the rest of her awards and accolades would take up too much space her, but she will be adding Hall of Famer to that list when eligible. The Arizona Diamondbacks showed love to Taurasi by inviting her to toss a first pitch. I show my appreciation for Taurasi by putting her on a Celebrity Jersey Card.

A native of Scottsdale, Arizona, professional skateboarder Jagger Eaton was the youngest X Games when he was 11. Later, he won the first Olympics skateboarding medal. He also has quite a collection of other medals from various competitions over the years. It's only natural he wore a Diamondbacks jersey for his Celebrity Jersey Card.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #739 Chris Collins & Allison Guth

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

Son of former NBA player and coach Doug, Chris Collins starred at Duke and played two seasons in Finland before starting his coaching career in 1998. After stints as an assistant in the WNBA and college, Collins was named Head Coach at Northwestern in 2013. For his NU career, he is 194-190, with only one really bad season. Collins tossed a ceremonial pitch for the Chicago Cubs to earn his Celebrity Jersey Card, but I suspect the Chicago area native had at least one Cubs jersey in his collection.

Chicago area native Allison Guth played for the University of Illinois, before embarking on a business career. Her love of basketball pulled her into coaching though. After a few years as an assistant, including at Loyola and DePaul, Guth was named Head Coach at Yale, a position she held from 2015-22. She spent the last three seasons as Head Coach at Loyola, where she raised the enthusiasm level on and off the team to the highest I have seen it. Guth is an amazingly positive and engaging person. I can't speak highly enough of her. Somehow it seems fitting that she appears with Cubs mascot Addison on her Celebrity Jersey Card. It echoes her fun personality.

Celebrity Jersey Cards #738 Charlie Brennan & John Rooney

Celebrity Jersey Cards is a weekly series in which I create virtual trading cards for celebrities wearing pro jerseys. I continue my season-long march through all MLB teams.

For nearly 34 years, Charlie Brennan was "The Voice of St. Louis." Hired in 1988 by KMOX, he began working the mid-morning shift two years later and stayed there until 2022 when he retired. He was inducted into the St. Louis Radio Hall of Fame in 2009.The author of several books, Brennan is known for leading community efforts in St. Louis. I am happy to bestow a Celebrity Jersey Card on him for his service.

Richmond, Missouri native John Rooney has been an MLB broadcaster since 1988. After eight seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Rooney joined his home state St. Louis Cardinals broadcasting team. At 70, he is still going strong, delighting Redbirds fans. One day (probably soon), he will get the Ford Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame.
