Stephanie Bellars Is Gorgeous (George)

Stephanie Bellars had a short but memorable career in pro wrestling.  In 1999, she made her debut in WCW accompanying (then boyfriend) Randy Savage.  About a year later, upon their breakup, she joined ECW.  She went on to work for a few other companies, but left the usiness in 2004.  She did return in 2008 and has worked sporadically since.
Stephanie had the looks and the charisma, but she really wasn;t a wrestler.  Maybe she could have been trained or maybe she simply did not want to be a wrestler.  Still, especially because of her association with Savage, she will always have a place in wrestling history.
Stephanie has donje a handful of appearances over the years, including an event near Philadelphia several years ago.
Stephanie was as sweet as she was beautiful (or gorgeous").  She was one of the most popular celebrities at that event.
Lately, she has disappeared from the scene.  She is occasionally on Facebook and seems to be doing well.  You can also keep up with her by following Stephanie Bellars on twitter.

Not The Original Gorgeous George

When Randy Savage was wrestling in the WCW, he purchased the 'Gorgeous George' gimmick. It is rumored that the name was intended for his brother, Lanny Poffo. Poffo never quite made it to the WCW, but Savage got good use out of the name anyway.
Savage gave the name to his then-girlfriend, Stephanie Bellars. Bellars, as George, became Savage's valet. She departed the WCW after her split with Savage.
She made a few sporadic wrestling appearances since then, under different names, since Savage still owned the Gorgeous George gimmick. After her marriage to Misfits rocker Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, Bellars became known as Georgie Frankenstein.
Bellars started doing personal appearances almost immediately after she left the WCW. After dropping out of the circuit for several years, she started appearing again.
Bellars didn't do a whole lot in wrestling, but she was aligned with Savage and Ric Flair at different times. That alone gives her enough of a resume to merit interest on the autograph circuit.
Very much like 'the Soup Nazi', Gorgeous George made the most of her notable role.
I am hoping she starts doing appearances again.  Stephanie was very sweet and really good to the fans when I met her in Chicago years ago.  We would love to see her back at conventions!
Let this serve as an open plea.  Come back, Stephanie!

Gorgeous George and Not Gorgeous Johngy

A few weeks ago, I attended an appearance by Gorgeous George at Hell Fire Comics in Chicago Ridge Mall in Bridgeview, IL. It was promoted by PCW Wrestling, a great local promotion.
The folks at PCW do things right. PL Myers greeted everyone and chatted individually with several of us. The line was filled with good wrestling fans and a few of the PCW wrestlers were on hand as well.
Georgie (Stephanie Bellars) greeted everyone very warmly and exuberantly.. We talked about some of her other appearances (past and future) and then took the photo.
Georgie was sporting a new 'do and was getting rave reviews. She was in a great mood and everyone walked away very happy.
I love George (aka Stephanie Bellars).  She is so sweet and nice.  Of course, she is also beautiful, but you can clearly see that.  I enjoyed her time in wrestling and it was great to meet her again.  I wish she was still ion the wrestling scene or at least made more of these appearances.  I miss her!
These are the types of appearances which make the hobby so great. Everyone from George to PL (and PCW) to Hell Fire Comics really made you feel like you were special. What more could you want?
