Friend Encounters: Heather Langenkamp and Tony Feddeler

Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

As I have previously written, I first met Tony Feddeler at either a comic con, a Chicago Bandits game or a wrestling show. That narrows it right down. In any case, I have known Tony for several years and we have enjoyed all three types of events many times.
At one such comic con, Tony met Heather Langenkamp, perhaps best known for her role as Nancy in the A Nightmare On Elm Street movie franchise. In addition to A Nightmare On Elm Street, Heather also was in Rumble Fish, The Outsiders and tv's Just the Ten of Us, among many other projects. Ordinarily, I would be envious of Tony meeting her, but I have met Heather several times. On second thought, I am envious, because I always love seeing Heather.
Heather has had her share of hardships unfortunately. Her teenage son died a couple years ago from brain cancer. She was also the stalking victim of a fan angry over the cancellation of Just the Ten of Us. That life event was the basis for Wes Craven's New Nightmare, in which she played a fictionalized version of herself. Despite all of that, Heather remains a very positive person.
Tony and I agree that Heather is just a real cutie. She is very fan-friendly and a very popular guest at any convention.
Tony is also very popular wherever he goes. Well, that's what he tells me at least. I have seen him surrounded by plenty of attendees several times. Oh sure, they might be family and friends, but they are numerous anyway.
Seriously Tony is a great guy and I always enjoy experiencing events with him. I look forward to many conventions, Bandits games and wrestling shows with Tony in 2020.

Friendly Encounters: Jacques Baron Meets Heather Langenkamp

This is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

I have been a fan of Heather Langenkamp for years.  I have met her a few times at various conventions and I think she is incredibly cute.
Jacques Baron of Resistance Pro met her at Days of the Dead a few months ago.  He got the picture below and he proclaimed that she is "hot."  I cannot disagree.  Jacques is a great judge of talent.
As co-owner of R Pro, Jacques deals with a lot of talented wrestlers on his roster.  He also deals with hundereds more who want to be in R Pro.  He must be doing something right, because R Pro is going stronger than ever as it enters its third year of business.  One might say that R Pro is "hot."
Is R Pro hotter than Heather?  I know that is a tough question and hard to actually compare.  I have spent a lot of time at R Pro events, talking to the talent and watching the action.  It would only be fair for me to spend that much time with Heather and then judge things.  Oh I like my chances of accomplishing that, but I can dream.
Maybe I should just rely on the big smile Jacques has.  Then again, I usually see that same smile after every R Pro show.
I guess we can just call it a tie, but if Heather wants to plead her case, I am open to accompanying her to an R Pro event.  Now that is a perfect evening!

Heather Langenkamp is Nancy

I really like Heather Langenkamp.  She appears to have progressed from young star to adulthood without any major incidents.

Success came quickly, with A Nightmare on Elm Street, the Outsiders and Just the Ten of Us all coming within the first few years of her career (which started in her late teens).  Langenkamp has worked steadily since then.  She still acts, although her and her husband own and operate AFX Studio, a Special F/X Make-Up firm that has done special make-up for many films.

One of Langenkamp's coolest projects was I Am Nancy, a documentary about her experience playing Nancy in the horror movies.  It is poignant, fun, interesting and much more.  It evoked many feelings as I watched it.  I would guess it stirred up a lot of emotions in Langenkamp as she did it and even now just watching it.

I really want to talk to Langenkamp about I Am Nancy.  It is so fascinating to me.  I have seen other documentaries, but nothing like this one.

Langenkamp is very fan-friendly, at conventions.  I just have never had the opportunity to officially interview her, although I really would love that chance.

I am not sure if she will be at Days of the Dead in Chicago later this year, but I hope so.  If she is, I will make a big effort to get her to talk about I Am Nancy on video.
