Drinking Cokes with Marc Price

Marc Price became one of Johngy's Beat's favorites this year.  We first interviewed Price in Indianapolis at Days of the Dead.  Then we interviewed him again in between sets at Riddles Comedy Club in Alsip (IL).
Of course, Price is best known for portraying Skippy on tv's Family Ties.  His career since has turned out much better than his unrequited love for Mallory.  He is a producer, comedian, actor, game show host and more.
Price was very cool about our interview requests.  He even invited us to his comedy show in Indy.  No other celeb invited us anywhere after an interview (although that was probably wise of them).
By all accounts, Price is well-adjusted after growing up on tv.  His comedy act is ever-evolving and ever-improving.  He was funny when we saw him in Las Vegas a while back, but he was hilarious at Riddles.  I was surprised at how solid his act had become.  He didn't even use much stuff from Family Ties in his act either.
I hope to meet Marc again in 2012 and to see him perform, too.  Skippy might not have been cool, but Marc Price certainly is!

On the Beat with Marc Price Again!

When we last talked to Marc Price, he was appearing at the Days of the Dead convention in Indianapolis.  Marc invited us to his comedy show that night, but we couldn't make it.  He also mentioned he would be appearing at Riddles in Chicago (home base area for Johngy's Beat).  I have kept a watchful eye on the Riddles site and when I saw Marc's appearance set, I marked the date.
I had seen Marc do comedy in Las Vegas a few years ago and he was very funny, but last Friday he was hilarious.  The entire audience roared as Marc joked his way through family, dating and his career.  I don't remember one joke bombing.  He was simply in the zone...on fire...lights out.
After his set, we hooked up with Marc for an update from our last interview with him.  The video below covers a bit of his career along with his current projects, including co-Producing the Green Collar Comedy Show for Showtime..  He answered our questions and provided a few more laughs.
If you get a chance, check out Marc's Facebook page for info and updates on his scheduled appearances.  Check out Showtime's schedule for the Green Collar Comedy Show, too.  I am sure you will enjoy his work as much as I do.
It was great watching his act and then catching up with Marc.  What a great evening.  What a great guy.

On the Beat with Marc Price

I first saw Marc Price as Skippy on Family Ties.  I was envious of him because he hung out with Alex and was always around Mallory.  That seemed like an ideal situation to me.
A couple years ago, I went to a comedy show in Las Vegas and was pleasantly surprised to see Marc performing that night.  I knew he did comedy, but had no idea he would be there.  It was a pretty funny show, too!  I met him after the show, but only talked briefly to him.
When I heard Marc would be at the Days of the Dead convention, I asked him for a short interview to which he agreed.  I really looked forward to talking to him.
Marc was one of the most popular guests at the convention.  During a quieter moment, I approached him and we did the interview at his table.  He is extremely nice and very funny.  It is great to see him doing well.
He said later this year he would be doing comedy in the Chicago area at a southside place called Riddles.  The dates haven't been announced yet, but when they are, I will be there!

Hey, It's Skippy!

My sisters, their husbands and I went to Las Vegas for a sibling trip. It was the first time we ever did anything like this as adults and we all had a great time, despite having some varying ideas of fun.
My sisters Nancy and Jean liked playing the slots and shopping at some of the stores on the strip. They also saw Celine Dion in concert.
My brother-in-law Scott is a poker master. I joined him in a Texas Hold 'em tournament. Technically, I outlasted him, but that really doesn't matter in tourney play.

My other brother-in-law Dave loved walking and checking stuff out. He walked mile after mile. In fact, he might still be out there walking.
I did a little of everything. I found a video arcade featuring older games (games that I actually understood). I played Blackjack, slots and Roulette.
As a group, we went to see Tom Jones. I never would have thought of going to see him, but I have to admit, he put on a great show. We also went to see some comedian. Actually, I forgot the main act, but I remember the other comedian. It was Marc Price, better known as Erwin 'Skippy' Handelman from TV's Family Ties. Skippy was the goofy neighbor who had a long crush on Mallory (Justine Bateman). Then again didn't every teenage boy have a crush on her back then? Price put on a hilarious show.
