Catching Up with Tiffany

Earlier this year, I interviewed entertainer Tiffany on Talking Travel for Global Traveler. She discussed her career, her upcoming cookbook and her latest ventures. She also talked about appearing with Sheena Easton in Des Plaines near me. Of course, I had to be there.

The night started with a meet-and-greet upstairs in the theater. This was not the usual quick picture and move on. Tiffany sat down and talked to the group of about 20. It lasted about 30 minutes. We left happy and went to our seats ready for the show.

Tiffany opened for Sheena and both were great. Sheena was accompanied by Brandon Nix, a pleasant surprise with his amazing voice. It's funny, because prior to the show, I was more into Tiffany, while Tony favored Sheena. After the show, we each raved about both of them. We thought it would be a fun night of nostalgic music, but these women sounded better now than back in the day. Their voices were fuller and richer.

Talking Travel with Tiffany

Here's an interview I never saw coming. Making it even odder is it was for Global Traveler.

Back in the 89s, Tiffany was a teen music sensation. Her legendary mall tour crossed America and gained her thousands of fans.

Fast forward many years, Tiffany is still performing, but she added a food component to her platform. Along with concerts, Tiffany is doing dinining experiences, which include music, pictures, stories and food, of course. Some meals will be from Tiffany's recipes, while others are area favorites.

Friend Encounters: Tiffany and Jim Strong

Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring my friends who have met celebrities.

Tiffany Darwisch made her musical debut while still a pre-teen. She really gained fame with Could've Been, released in 1988. While her popularity rose and fell over the years, Tiffany remained active on the music scene. I am actually a fan of her 2000 Color of Silence album.

I have featured Jim Strong here several times. I first met Jim at a wrestling show many years ago. We crossed paths mny times and became friends in the process. When I heard Tiffany was performing in Schaumburg, I thought Jim would want to go and he did.

The show was at the Prairie Center for the Arts, an intiamte theater and we had front row seats. Young Ali Morgan opened for Tiffany. It seemed fitting that a teenager would set the stage for the now veteran Tiffany. Both ladies put on a great night of music.

After the show, we met Tiffany and she was as sweet as could be. The line was long, but somehow we ended up near the front.I wrote more about the night at Halloween With Tiffany for Global Traveler.

Friendly Encounters: Tiffany and Josh Watko

Friendly Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

Another year is almost done and Josh Watko of JWsWrestlingMemorabliia has just announced his 2016 Joshie award winners.  Unfortunately, once again, I did not win a Joshie.  Technically, I am not even sure I would qualify for a Joshie, but it still remains my goal.
Josh is a celebrity fan, with a major focus on wrestling.  His site is full of great wrestling stories, pictures, reviews and more.  It's very well done and I am not just saying that to enhance my chances for a Joshie in 2017 (lthouh if that works, so be it).
Anyway, as you can see below, Josh meets more than just wrestlers.  He met former teen idol Tifffany a couple years back.  Does that mean that is a picture of two former teen idols?
Doesn't Tiffany still look great?  More importantly, she sings even better.  Yes, I admit, I am a fan of hers.
Of course, I am also a fan of Josh's.  Some day, maybe Johngy will win a Joshie.  I'm hoping to even meet Josh someday.

No Breakfast with Tiffany

Tiffany Darwish burst onto the music scene in the mid 80's with her mall tour. Tiffany set a record for being the youngest female to top the Billboard chars with a debut album.
Family turmoil and a failure to follow up her initial success left her career in limbo. Several years and a few comeback attempts later, Tiffany appeared to be rising again with the 2000 release of Color of Silence.
I know I might get mocked for this, but I liked that album. This effort received rave reviews from Billboard, although it had limited success. I still maintain it was a decent product.
Tiffany has appeared on a few tv shows and has made two more albums (with singles appearing on Billboard's charts again).
Tiffany appeared to be having a blast at the Hollywood Collectors Show. I think she was surprised at the turnout for her (and the promoters seemed surprised, too). She might have been the hit of the show. She thanked her fans for remembering and sticking with her. She talked positively (and honestly) about her past and future. She seemed to be in a good place and that is always good to see.
