Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) returns February 28-March 1. I'll be back "On the Beat" there, but for now, I am recalling some of the fun from previous years.
Jake Hager rose to fame as Jack Swagger in the WWE. During his time there, he won three different singles titles. After leaving the WWE, he dabbled in MMA and wrestling on the independent scene. Recently, he joined All Elite Wrestling, where he is part of "The Inner Circle" of Chris Jericho.
I met Hager at C2E2, thanks to my #SuperFriend David Herro of Great Lakes Championship Wrestling. David can often be found accompanying wrestlers at their appearances and getting Hager to C2E2 was a big deal. Hager hasn't done many appearances.
Hager is another wrestler who never found a great spot in the WWE, but I blame the creative team for not giving him the right role. When paired with Zeb Colter (Dutch Mantell), Hager actually was very over. His "We the People" gimmick echoed all over arenas. Hopefully, he will fair better in AEW.
