Sara Moulton and Missing Softball

The Chicago Bandits should have had another exiciting season, but the pandemic destroyed the season. As I continue to attempt to fill my softball void, today I feature Sara Moulton.
Sara was a star pitcher at the University of Minnesota. She finished her career with a 112-50 record, holding program records for wins, appearances (178), innings pitched (1,017), complete games (108), no-hitters (5), shutouts (47) and strikeouts (1,184). She was also named Big 10 Pitcher of the Week 8 times in her career and was the Big 10 Freshman of the Year in 2011.
After Minnesota, she was selected by the Bandits with the fifth pick of the 2014 NPF draft. Sara Pitched three seasons for the Bandits and was a key part of their 2015 and '16 NPF championships.
Along the way, Sara underwent a big transformation. She lost a lot of weight and became a Marathon runner. She always had a great attitude and killer instinct n the field, but now she was applying it to her lifestyle. It was wonderful seeing her try to improve her overall life and I am impressed with her success.
Sara was always a fun interview. My first interview with Sara is at On the Beat With Sara Moulton. In a later interview, I even asked Sara to tell it to my friends straight out that they would have no chance of hitting any NPF pitches. She was a great sport about that and I appreciate her going along with that silliness.
Sara is the co-owner of Strike Zone Sports in her native Minnesota. Strike Zone Sports offers lessons in pitching, hitting, slapping and fielding. Sara is joined by Sam Macken, another former Gopher, leading the hitting/slapping/and fielding lessons and Whitney Johnson, former NDSU Bison standout pitcher, a part-time pitching instructor.
While I miss Sara in Chicago, I continue to follow her career. Sara was an elite athlete and is a quality person. She is another example of the fine young women who came up through college sports and the NPF. I appreciate Sara's friendship, time and consideration during her time with the Bandits. Even post-Bandits, Sara has given me a few quotes etc. for stories. I hope to get an in-person update interview with Sara sometime.
Go to StrikeZoneSports.net for all of the info on Sara and her tarining facility. Also, check ChicagoBandits.com for more info on the team.
