Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.
I never pass a chance to write about Dominique Collins, former star defensive back with the LFL Chicago Bliss. It's unfortunate that this picture is mucked up by Henry, but for the sake of featuring DC, I'll accept that.
Actually, Henry and I crossed paths a few times while we were covering the LFL and the Bliss for different media outlets. Little did we know that years later, I would be writing for Global Women's Sports Radio, which is run by Henry.
DC was my first game day interview with the Bliss. It was happenstance as I asked the Bliss PR guy for anyone and he brought out DC. We've all come a long way since then.
DC went on to win four titles with the Bliss, while becoming a real star in the league. I saw her work so hard and develop into a great player. I also became friends with her and saw what a wonderful person she is.
Hnry has gone on to launch GWSR and also works hard at making it a success. I've been writing for GWSR for almost a year now and it has been a fun ride covering women's sports including softball, wrestling, basketball and more.
