Celebrity Jersey Cards is a recurring series in which I create virtual cards for celebrities wearing sports jerseys. Today I feature old school hockey.
Born in Los Angeles, but raised in Rockford, Illinois, Susan Saint James started modeling as a teenager. This eventually led to acting. She is probably best known for her roles on television's McMillan & Wife and Kate & Allie. Tragically, one of her children (Teddy) died in a plane crash when he was only 14. Saint James is also the aunt of actress Christa Miller. She posed in a Hartford Whalers (now Carolina Hurricanes) jersey to make her first Celebrity Jersey Card appearance. I believe this picture was used on a legit card in a set years ago.
Former baseball player Jason Bay was born in Canada. He was Rookie of the Year with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2004 (although he had a handful of at-bats with the San Diego Padres and Pirates in 2003). He enjoyed an 11 year career, racking up exactly 1200 hits for a .266 career batting average. His sister Lauren Bay-Regula, pitched for Canada in the 2004 Olympics and was a pro softball player. While with the New York Mets, Bay sported a Whalers jersey on Jersey Day for the team. Bay grew up a fan of the Boston Red Sox, but that doesn't explain the jersey.
