"Ozzy" at Days of the Dead Chicago 2017

Days of the Dead is happening in Indianapolis right now.. While I am ensconced in horror-related fun there, here I look back on some of the great fun I have had there over the years.
Cosplayers are a big part of comics and horror conventions. I have seen some great costumes, many of which are elaborate and very detailed. Then there is "Ozzy."
Okay, I am just poking Ozzy. In fact,k he is not really a cosplayer. Ozzy is part of the PsychoBabble crew. (Spoiler alert: Ozzy s really comedian Bob Jay.)
Wearing a ratty wig, glasses and doing a pretty good Ozzy impression, this guy walks around Days of the Dead mingling and talking to attendees, while also nabbing cool interviews with the celebrity guests.
I have tagged along with the PsychoBabble crew and I still don't know how they do what they do. At a convention where the celebrities are there to meet fans and make money, the PsychoBabble crew manages to get some major celebrities for interviews. I would think an irreverent Ozzy imposter would not be given the time or consideration, but yet he somehow is endearing enough to draw in the celeb.
Ozzy and the crew, led by Mike Preston, are an awesome bunch. I have worked with them and have been on their cable show.
The PsychoBabblers don't usually make the trip to Indy, but there will be plenty of other fun there. Check out DaysoftheDead.com for more info.

Friendly Encounters: Marty Jannetty and Bob Jay

This is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

I see a lot of strange things at Days of the Dead.  Few things (if any) have been stranger than seeing "Ozzy" interact with wrestling legend Marty Jannetty.  Then again, what did I expect when PsychoBabbleTV invaded Days?
Mike Preston and his crew made the rounds at the DotD event in Chicago last year.  Bob Jay did his usual outstanding performance as the barely coherent Ozzy performing the interviewing duties.
For his part, Jannetty went along with the insanity.  To be perfectly honest, Jannetty was enjoying the bit, but he also enjoyed the entire weekend (maybe a bit too much).
It all produced a funny segment for PsychoBabbleTV, as you can see at PsychoBabbleTV on Vimeo.  There are also a few other interviews Ozzy conducted.  It's all highly entertaining, like PsychoBabbleTV usually is.

Bob Jay (and Ozzy, The Joker, Jack Nicholson, Homer Simpson...)

I met comedian-impressionist Bob Jay through PsychoBabbleTV.com.  Bob (as Ozzy) was with the PsychoBabble crew at a celebrity con.  Watching him perform his craft was hilarious.
The key to a great impressionist is the content to accompany the impression.  You have to be able to be funny, while still maintaining the intended persona.  Bob as Ozzy killed.
I have seen Bob do other impressions, as well as perform comedy on his own.  The guy is pure gold.  He also happens to be a really nice guy.
I highly encourage everyone to check out Bob at a comedy club.  You can also seehim on PsychoBabbleTV.com and a bunch of his videos on YouTube.  If you're lucky, you might be able to see him in action at a comic con at some point.  If you see Ozzy (or the Joker, Jack Nicholson or other out of place celeb) doing an interview, chances are it is Bob!

PsychoBabbling

PsychoBabbleTV is one of the best, most underrated fun sites on the internet.  Mike Preston is the creative blowtorch behind the madness and he has a great cast of characters to support his insanity.
I am proud to say I have joined forces with PsychoBabbleTV on occasion (with the Chicago Bliss, Days of the Dead and other endeavors).  I have also appeared briefly on an episode as Dr. Burnbaum's assistant (a role that I nailed and hope to reprise).
In addition to the PsychoBabbleTV episodes on YouTube, there are hundreds of great interviews, pictures and other fun stuff on PsychoBabbleTV.net.  Do yourself a favor and check it out, but give yourself plenty of time, because there is a lot of material and all of it is gold.

Bruce Kulick, PsychoBabble, Kiss and Days of the Dead

We had the pleasure of partnering with PsychoBabbleTV at last year's Days of the Dead convention in Chicago.  One of the highlights was sitting in on the Bruce Kulick interview.  That interview can be found at Bruce Kulick-November 2014.
The gang at PsychoBabbleTV is a fun bunch, but they know how to get things done, too.  They scored several key interviews at Days of the Dead.  You can check out the interviews from Days and all of their other entertaining stuff at PsychoBabbleTV.com.
Kulick is a fascinating guy.  He was a member of Kiss for twelve years, but never wore the facepaint.  He was the first member of Kiss to use his real name.  He was featured on lead vocals for "I Walk Alone," his only song as lead vocalist.
Kulick was also extremely nice.  PsychoBabbleTV's Mike Preston conducted a very interesting interview and Kulick answered every question.  He was amusing and insightful.  I really enjoyed the interview, meeting Kulick and working with PsychoBabbleTV.

Friendly Encounters: Bruce Kulick and Mike Preston

This is a weekly feature about friends who have met celebrities.

Johngy's Beat has hooked up with Mike Preston and the PsychoBabbleTV crew a few times.  The latest was in November at Days of the Dead.  We were very excited to be a part of the interview with Bruce Kulick, long-time member of KISS.  That interview can be found at Bruce Kulick Interview 2014.
Preston has interviewed a ton of celebrities over the years.  Johngy's Beat is slightly envious of the success attained by the PsychobabbleTV crew.  The whole gang at PsychobabbleTV has been very receptive to us and I hope we can partner with them in the future.
It was fun watching Preston interview Kulick.  I hope you check out the interview to see for yourself.  Preston knows his stuff and is very smooth and comfortable.  Kulick was very pleased with this interview and I am sure his fans will enjoy it, too.

On the PsychoBabble Beat with Felissa Rose at Days of the Dead 2014

I first saw Felissa Rose in Sleepaway Camp.  Little did I dream that years later, I would interview her at Days of the Dead in 2012.  Our first interview with Felissa can be found at On the Beat with Felissa Rose.
I wrote "first," because we got another interview this year, although Dr. Chance Burnbaum (aka Jimmy McHugh) of PsychoBabbleTV took care of the interviewing duties as only he could.  Dr. Burnbaum and Felissa together are comedic gold.
I got a little ahead of myself there.  As I roamed the Days convention setting up my interviews, I came across Felissa's booth.  I started to greet her, but was stopped as she jumped up, came around the booth and gave me a huge hug.  It doesn't get much better than that.  Felissa is a real sweetheart.  We talked for a few minutes and I told her the PsychoBabbleTV crew would be coming by later.
Felissa has a lengthy resume, including many memorable roles..  She is easily one of the most popular guests at every convention.  She is also one of the most fan-friendly guests.  Simply stated, Felissa is a dream guest.
I am sure you will enjoy the interview below as much as I did.  Thanks to Felissa for her time.  Thanks to PsychoBabbleTV.com for partnering with me.  Thanks to Days fo the Dead for another in a long line of fantastic guests!

Psycho Babble at Exxxotica Expo

At the recent Exxxotica Expo, we had the pleasure of enjoying a great convention in a new way.  Ordinarily JohngysBeat.com will do our own thing at these events.  At Exxxotica Expo, we tagged along with PsychoBabbleTv.com.  We watched, learned and enjoyed the weekend festivities.
Exxxotica Expo is loaded with adult stars greeting fans, posing for pictures, signing autographs and selling their merchandise.  Beautiful women like Tera Patrick wore big smiles and sexy clothes, much to the delight of the crowd.  There were also a few male stars, just to be fair.
The crew at PsychoBabbleTV was all over the place.  The did interviews and had fun with the various stars.  You can see all of their coverage on PsychoBabbleTV.com.
The PsychoBabble crew is awesome.  They are fun, professional and successful.  They are what JohngysBeat.com wants to be (and we are on our way).
Exxxotica Expo was the perfect place for us to learn from themaster, while having a blast.  The convention was three days of absolute fun.  The folks at Exxxotica Expo take the event seriously, without taking it too seriously.  They are there to give everyone a good time and they succeeded.
Next year, JohngysBeat.com hopes to be back at Exxxotica Expo.  We want to take what we learned from PsychoBabbleTV.com and put it into practice.  We want to see what else the Expo will offer next year.  In other words, we want to have another great time, thanks to Exxxotica!
