Friend Encounters: Priscilla Kelly & Heather

Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends meeting celebrities.

At the Squared Circle VI, there was a meeting of two tough women wrestlers. Longtime friend and favorite Hardcore Heather Owens and Priscilla Kelly (aka Ggi Dolin) were in the same room and actually posed together. There's a lot of talent in that picture.

Prior to wrestling, Kelly already was getting into the entertainment world. She was in the first season of the reality show My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding. After making her wrestling debut in 2014, she worked for several independent companies before being signed by WWE. She is currently back on the indie scene. Kelly credits her autistic brother for inspiring her to be a wrestler, to give him a beter life.

I first met Heather while we were with Resistance Pro Wrestling. Heather came in several times and always had a good match. Unfortunately, she never had a great chance at the title. I could definitely have seen a title run for her.

Heather has gone on to bigger things. Heather, her husband Ed and Adolfo and Carrie, are the promoters of Squared Circle Expo, a great wrestling convention.

The pair did not meet in a match at SCX VI, but they did pose together. While I would have loved to see a match, seeing them together was still a cool sight.

For more info on SCX, go to squaredcirclex.com. Follow both Heather and Kelly on social media. Of course, always check here for more fun Friend Encounters and other pop culture bits.

Friend Encounters: Dennis Rodman, Ed and Heather

Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends meeting celebrities.

In March, I attended Squared Circle Expo VI. It's not just a great wrestling convention. SCX has quickly become one of the best celebrity conventions of any kind.
Dennis Rodman was one of the headliner guests this year. What perfect timing, too. The three-time NBA champ with the Chicago Bulls was just voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. This was probably his first autograph signing since that announcement.
For those who don't know, Rodman dabbled in pro wrestling as a tag team partner of Hulk Hogan and a member of the NWO. While Rodman would never be confused with Bruno Sammartino, he did what he needed to do. He was himself, in all his fabulous outrageousness.
Getting him as a guest at SCX was a big coup and it paid off as his line was ridiculously long. Two folks who didn't have to wait in line though were Ed and Heather, one-half of the Fab Four who run SCX.
I've known Heather for about 15 years and Ed not much less. I first met her at Resistance Pro Wrestling and Ed at a different convention. Saying they are a fun couple is an understatement. They are great folks who bust butt to make the convention fun for all. They also squeeze in a little fun for themselves and rightly so.
With SCX VI in the books, everyone is already looking forward to SCX VII. No info is known about that yet, but you can learn a bit more about SCX at squaredcirclex.com.

Friend Encounters: Heather, Ed and Troy

Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends meeting celebrities.

It's hard to say who the biggest celebrity is in this picture. I would say they are all celebrities. Depending on the day, they might say none are or they might debate who is the biggest.
Married couple Ed and Heather were staples of the independent wrestling scene. Now they are mostly retired. I am inclined to say Heather is the biggest celebrity (because she is the toughest lol).
Troy is a staple on the convention scene. The man goes to more shows than I do.
Together, this trio is a huge part of Squared Circle Expo, the great wrestling convention in Indianapolis on March 27-28. This picture was a foreshadowing of things to come, as it happened before the SCX I, but even then, they were all heavily involved in conventions.
Heading into SCX VI, Ed and Heather are two of the promoters and Troy manages the volunteers. Together with Adolfo, Carrie and a staff of volunteers, they run a fantastic event. The trio is a lot of fun, along with being very hard-working.
All three will be surrounded by more than 75 wrestling legends and current stars, along with thousands of fans. SCX is the best wrestling convention and I can't wait to see all of them.
For more info, go to squaredcirclex.com. Also, check here for my updates.

Friend Encounters: Ickey Woods and Hardcore Heather Owens

Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring my friends meeting celebrities.

I firat met Heather O. during our time with Resistance Pro Wrestling. Hardcore Heather made the trek from the Cincinnati area several times and always put on a great match. I think she should have gotten a run with the Women's title, but I wasn't the booker.

Recently, Heather met a Cincy legend. Elbert "Ickey" Woods had a short but legendary time with the Cincinnati Bengals. He burst on the scene in 1988, rushing for 1,066 yards. His touchdown dance, "The Ickey Shuffle" ignited a fan base. Unfortunately, Woods declined quickly. He gained only 459 yards in the next three seasons, while he battled injuries.

From all accounts, Woods was a great guy. His enthusiasm caught on quickly with his teammates and the fans. Few players are better remembered after such a short career. That's how special Woods was.

I know Heather was excited to meet him. A longtime Bengals fan, Heather was just a toddler when Woods played. Still, I know how it feels to meet legends, even if they played before I was around to watch.

I don't know if Woods knew of Heather's wrestling career. If he did, he would be happy to meet her, but she is too humble to sing her own praises. I can though. Although mostly retired, Heather was one of my favorites. As tough as could be in the ring, she was just as nice outside.

She also started Squared Circle Expo with her husband and another couple. SCX is the best wrestling convention and it's no surprise. With those four running it, it has to be great. I wonder if they could get Woods there? Even though he has nothing to do with wrestling, I'd still love to meet him.

Friend Encounters: Jacqueline Moore and Heather

Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends meeting celebrities.

Here are two of my favorite women wrestlers. Pioneer Jacqueline Moore is partially responsible for paving the path for Hardcore Heather Owens.

Moore is an underrated wrestling personality. Whether a wrestler of manager/valet, Moore was one of the generation who bridged the gap from the old time women wrestlers who were lucky to get one match on any card to the new generation who can main event a card. While Heather has never told me directly Moore is one of her role models, I know her well enough to say this is the case.

I have known Heather from our time with Resistance Pro Wrestling. I believe she was vastly underappreciated there, but she was a good soldier and did what was asked. I would have liked to see her get a real run to and with the title.

Since then, Heather is mostly retired. She runs a yearly wrestling show in the Cincinnati area as well as being one of the promoters of Squared Circle Expo, where she met Moore.

I love this picture. It is two generations of women wrestlers. I would bet there is pride on both ends. No doubt Moore is proud of the women who have followed her and Heather is proud to meet the legend.

Go to squaredcirclex.com for more info on the awesome wrestling convention. Also, check Heather on social media or the Cincinnati Patch for info on Power. Pride. Pro Wrestling!

Talking Power! Pride! Pro Wrestling! with Heather Owens

Power! Pride! Pro Wrestling! returns to Cincinnati November 21. Looking for an update on this year's event, I went to promoter, long-time friend and (mostly) retired pro wrestler Hardcore Heather Owens, Co-Chair of Cincinnati Pride Athletics Committee.

A veteran of many conventions, a long-time wrestler and a friend of the LGBTQ+ community, Heather was the perfect person to organize this event. which debuted in 2022. At the time, Heather saw it as a one time event to bring worlds together. It was so popular, all involved knew it would return.

All the wrestlers, officials etc. involved are in the LGBTQ+ community. The fans, however, are all-inclusive. The outpouring of support from those outside of the LGBTQ+ community is one of the best developments.

The event isn't about agendas, politics, race or any serious issues. As Heather states in the interview, she would squash any of that drama instantly. (I can vouch for that.). I liken it to comic cons. People of all worlds are welcome. It's just about fun.

Fun involves a lot of hard work though. I have known Heather a long time. She is very passionate about this and works feverishly to make it a success.

I haven't been to an event yet. I'm a bit too far from Cincy. I support the cause in the best way I can, by promoting it here and other sites where I write.

Check our interview at Talking Power! Pride! Pro Wrestling with Heather Owens. Also, go to cincinnatipride.org for more info.

Heather Owens and Squared Circle Expo

When you talk #classybroad, you must be talking about Hardcore Heather Owens. A semi-retired pro wrestler, Heather is also one-fourth of the dynamic foursome who run Squared Circle Expo.
I first met Heather years ago at a horror convention, but that was mostly just in passing. We chatted more and became friends when she wrestled for (the now-defunct) Resistance Pro Wrestling. Heather had excellent matches as a solo and a tag team wrestler.
RPro had a great women's division, but I still think Heather deserved a run with the belt. Sometimes I think she was too good, meaning the bookers knew they could count on her to make others look good.
After RPro folded, I still saw Heather every year at the horror con. Then several years ago, I saw she and her husband Ed Gonzales joined Adolfo Dorta and his wife Carrie to run Squared Circle Expo, an awesome wrestling convention.
Now four years of SCX and it just keeps getting bigger and better.
I always try to get pictures with the Fantastic Four, but they are so busy and I don't want to get them at the wrong time. Fortunately, I ran into Heather at a quieter moment for her and snapped the photo below.
Not only is Heather one of the promoters and organizers, she also wrestles on the cards at night. If SCX ever unveils a women's championship, I hope Heather gets a shot.
Go to SquaredCircleX.com for more info. SCX V has not been announced yet, but it'll probably be around the same time in 2025. Don't miss it.

Ed Gonzales and Heather Owens and Squared Circle Expo

Ed and Heather. Mr. Zubaz and #classybroad. A Chicago Bears fan and a Cincinnati Bengals fan. They make quite a couple. They also make great convention organizers.
Ed and Heather are half of the folks behind the Squared Circle Expo, the best wrestling convention. Along with Carrie and Adolfo, they have built SCX into a powerhouse in after only three shows. SCX IV promises to be even better.
I first met Heather many years ago when she wrestled for Resistance Pro. Heather was underutilized, but never complained (even when she had to wrestle BD Smooth, a task nobody should have endured. LOL). I met her husband Ed at a different convention back shortly after. Yes, these folks have been dealing with me for about a decade.
Although it is cliche, they work hard and play hard. They are the life of any party and the backbone of any organization.
SCX runs so smoothly because of the foursome running it and the team they developed. If you have any doubts, you can see for yourself March 29-30 when SCX IV comes to Indianapolis.
The guest list has started to be announced. Sting! Kane! That's an amazing 1-2 punch. It's not as amazing as the Ed-Heather combo, but I might be biased.
Go to SquaredCircleX.com for more info. Also, check here for my recurring coverage.

On the Beat With Hardcore Heather Owens

I recently made my debut on the Cincinnati Patch when I went "On the Beat" with Hardcore Heather Owens to discuss Power! Pride! Pro Wrestling!: A Drag & Wrestling Extravaganza! Longtime friend, (semi( retired pro wrestler and Co-Chair of Cincinnati Pride Athletics Committee, Heather is the perfect person to get the scoop on this cool event.

Power! Pride! Pro Wrestling! brings together the world of pro wrestling with the LGBTQ+ community. It features five wrestling matches and three drag performances. There's also great drinks, because it's held at Rhinegeist Brewery and great food from the Wild Side Caveman food truck.

I have known Heather for about a decade, having met at Resistance Pro Wrestling. She's one of the coolest, sweetest people, except in the ring, where she earned her "hardcore" moniker. Either way, Heather is the best. If she is involved in something, it's going to be good.

The interview is on the Patch at Power! Pride! Pro Wrestling! For more info and tickets, go to CincinnatiPride.org.

Friend Encounters: Gangrel, Christian and Heather Owens

Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

Squared Circle Expo III was a couple weeks back, but those who attended are still talking about it. Of course Heather Owens was there. She is one of the fabulous foursome who run it.

Heather talked about it on The Johngy "OR ELSE" Podcast - Ep. 38 Hardcore Heather Owens. A friend from our time together at Resistance Pro, Tommy Else and I were very happy to talk to the #classybroad about all of her projects.

During the interview, Heather declared she was retired from wrestling. Then, she was announced as a participant in an eight women match at SCX III. Heather came out and delivered stunners to everyone in the ring, stunning the fans. Then, recently, she announced she would face Shawna Reed on May 20 in Lima Ohio. Is Heather getting the itch? Are these random matches? I hope the former, but I think the latter. Either way, it's good to see Heather in the ring whooping butts.

SCX is a fantastic event, featuring 50+ wrestlers of the past and present. SCX debuted in 2021 and has somehow gotten better each year. How could they top it next year? I have no idea, but I bet they will. I know how hard Heather, Ed, Adolfo and Carrie work on SCX and I know the pride they take. This is a convention for fans and the fans love it.

At SCX III, Heather tried forming a new Brood when she posed with Gangrel and Christian. A woman would have fit in nicely with that group. Seeing the Zombie Heather shirt at Pro Wrestling Tees, I think Heather could have pulled it off.

I am sure the group is already planning SCX IV. For more info and updates, go to SquaredCircleX.com.

The Johngy "OR ELSE" Podcast Ep. 38: "Hardcore" Heather Owens

The Johngy "OR ELSE" podcast is back and this episode is hardcore. Tommy Else and I interviewed "Hardcore" Heather Owens about two wrestling shows she is promoting, along with other fun stuff. That interview is at On the Beat With "Hardcore" Heather Owens.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, “Hardcore” Heather Owens retired from pro wrestling in-ring competition in 2019, but she hasn't strayed far from the ring. Heather segued into different roles in wrestling.

A multi-sports athlete in high school, Heather was trained by Cody Hawk, Les Thatcher and Matt Stryker. After debuting in 2005, Heather earned many titles along the way, including the United Wrestling Alliance/United Wrestling Federation Vixen's Championship seven times. Heartland Wrestling Association named her Woman of the Year in 2006.

Tommy and I first met Heather many years ago when we were all with Resistance Pro Wrestling. Heather was one of the staples of RPro's strong Women's division.

Heather is the Co-Chair of the Cincinnati Pride Athletics Committee at Cincinnati Pride. Through that, Heather is putting on a wrestling show. Cincinnati Pride presents Pride! Power! Pro Wrestling! on Friday, November 4. Described as a “drag and wrestling extravaganza,” Pride! Power! Wrestling! will take over Humble Monk Brewing Co. in Cincinnati.

Hosted by Brooklyn Steele-Tate, the night will feature drag performances between matches from Stixen Stones, Kiara Chimera, Brock Leah and more. Wrestling talent includes Ace Perry, Hayley Shadows, GG Jacobs, Cameron Saturn, Jack Andrews, IPA, Chris Copeland, Juniper Gates and several others.

Working the other side of a wrestling show, Heather discusses the new challenges and rewards. She intends Pride! Power! Pro Wrestling! to be a yearly event.

Another yearly wrestling event involving Heather is Squared Circle Expo, a huge wrestling convention which debuted in 2020. Run by Heather, husband Eddie Gonzales (who she married in 2007) and friends Adolfo and Carrie Dorta, SCE is a yearly two-day event in Indianapolis, Indiana.

SCE III runs Friday, April 7 and Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West. Contained entirely within the Wyndham, SCE III will feature all day meet-and-greets, panels, Q&As and more. There will also be full wrestling cards each night. Last year, more than 60 wrestling stars of the past and present were in the guest lineup. Olympic legend and WWE and TNA Hall of Famer Kurt Angle was just the first guest announcement for this year. He is guaranteed to be followed by dozens of great names.

In addition to promoting these wrestling events, Heather has dabbled a bit as a referee, including a match at SCE. She insists she is fully retired from actively wrestling though.

Heather has also co-hosted a couple popular podcasts. Pop Drunk with hubby Ed, features the couple discussing the world of Funko Pop collectibles (of which they have several hundred), beer and other fun topics. The Best Friend Show podcast has Heather and friend Jade chatting about pretty much anything.

While her podcasting has slowed down, all previous episodes are still available on major podcast platforms. All are still relevant, but more important, they are all highly entertaining.

Heather talked about all of this and several other fun topics, like the Cincinnati Bengals, "The Golden Girls" and cats. One of Heather's cats made a cameo appearance, along with Tommy's cat.

We thank Heather for her time and we look forward to updates about both wrestling events. Go to the Power! Pride! Pro Wrestling! Facebook page and the Squared Circle Expo Facebook page for info on those great events. Check back here, The Johngy "OR ELSE" podcast and TheEveryDayFan.com for all of that and more!

"Hardcore" Heather Owens and Podcasts

I quickly became a fan of "Hardcore" Heather Owens after seeing her wrestle at Resistance Pro Wrestling several years ago. Although she never won the RPro Women's title, she was a solid part of the women's roster over the years. I also saw Heather and her husband Ed Gonzales at comic and horror conventions and wrestling events.
Through all of those events, I would see Heather several times a year. Now, we all can see Heather on a regular basis on either of her two podcasts.
Heather and Ed discuss Funko Pop figures and alcohol on their Pop Drunk Podcast. Okay, maybe they talk Funko and drink alcohol. Either way, they are highly entertaining.
Meanwhile, Heather also co-stars with her best friend on the Best Friend Podcast. Described as "Just a couple of Classy Broads talking about Best Friend sh!t like Life, Family, Men, Food, Collectibles, Horror, Wrestling and Product Reviews!!!", they cover a lot of ground and they are quite entertaining. Not that there would be anything wrong with it, but this isn't just for women. The Best Friend Podcast is part of my regular podcast rotation.

Friend Encounters: Bret Hart, Heather Owens and Ed Gonzales

Friend Encounters is a weekly series about my friends who have met celebrities.

The Squared Circle Expo has been postponed from the original May date to a future date to be determined. While I look forward to the convention, whenever it is, I am featuring a couple people involved.
Ed Gonzales and "Hardcore" Heather Owens have carved out a career on the independent wrestling scene. I met both through Resistance Pro Wrestling several years back. Actually, I probably met them even before RPro, when our paths most likely crossed at a few horror conventions.
Ed and Heather were part of the organizational team who put on the horror cons. Like Adolfo and Carrie, Ed and Heather were usually a blur at those shows. They played a part in more wrestlers being added as the years went on and they were usually heavily involved with events including the wrestlers at the convention.
It's a natural for them to be involved in the Squared Circle Expo. I am sure they will help bring in great wrestlers, while also contributing to the SCE in many other ways.
Actually, I am very much looking forward to seeing Ed and Heather, as much as seeing the big name wrestlers. They are two really cool people. They work very hard and play even harder. They are a lot of fun and I miss seeing them.
The dynamic duo didn't get a ton of pictures of themselves with the various celebrities over the years, but they did get one with Bret "The Hitman" Hart. That picture is one more person away from being a great stable. I would even volunteer myself. It would be a fantastic time.
I am sure Ed and Heather will be busy as usual at the Squared Circle Expo. I hope they take enough time to enjoy it themselves. I also hope they know how much fans love the event.
Check out SquaredCircleX.com and follow them at Squared Circle Expo on Facebook for all of the info and updates. I hope to see you all there when it is rescheduled..

Squared Circle Expo Update

The Squared Circle Expo is scheduled for May 29-30 in Indianapolis, IN. With the pandemic, all conventions are in a holding pattern. The fine folks at SCE are keeping all updated as best as can be.
I wrote at length about their latest update at Squared Circle Expo Update on Patch.com. In short, the SCE is still scheduled as is, but the organizers are looking at other options with the host hotel and the guest wrestlers. They will keep all posted as developments occur and I will report their updates, too.
As we settle in for a long lockdown, we realize the things we miss most won't be the events. It will be the friends and the memories.
Ed "Mr. Zubaz" Gonzales and "Hardcore" Heather Owens are two friends I miss and looked forward to seeing at the SCE. It's no shock that I miss the #ClassyBroad, but yes, I miss Ed, too. They are such a huge part of the convention scene. I have known them for several years and they are two great people.
Nobody works harder than these two and nobody parties harder. Despite being extremely busy at conventions, they always have a few minutes to catch up.
Although I haven;t been with them in a while, at least I have been entertained by them through their Pop Drunk YouTube channel. They drink, talk Funko Pop figures and basically have a ball and I have just as much fun watching them.
It looks like the SCE will be postponed, but it will happen at some point. I will be so happy to see Ed, Heather and all of my other friends there. Until then, I will sit at home and watch Pop Drunk videos to get my Ed and Heather fix.
Check SquaredCircleX.com for all of the info on this great event. Also follow Squared Circle Expo on Facebook for more frequent updates.

Friend Encounters: Tiny Lister, Heather Owens and Ed Gonzales

Friend Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

Ed Gonzales and Heather Owens are two of my favorite people from the wrestling world and the convention world. Yes, they have to deal with me in both places.
I first met Heather when she was wrestling at Resistance Pro. Hardcore Heather always gave a great match and she was such a sweetheart outside of the ring. Of course, she was also quite capable of a quick verbal (or physical) jab in or out of the ring.
Soon after, I met her husband Ed at a Days of the Dead event. Ed and Heather were part of the inner core at DotD. The duo was heavily involved in the wrestling aspect of Days, usually handling the wrestling guests and moderating the wrestling panels. Hardworking and fun-loving, these two were always one of the highlights.
At the last DotD in Chicago, they got a picture with actor Tom "Tiny" Lister, who also has a strong connection to the wrestling world. Among his many roles, Lister stayed as Zeus opposite of Hulk Hogan in No Holds Barred. That led to a few stints in pro wrestling. Most of his wrestling played off of his movie with Hogan, but he has carved a legitimate acting career.
One bit of trivia concerning Lister is that he is blind in his right eye. This makes his time in the ring more impressive. In a performance that relies on timing and ring presence, having half a field of vision makes it extremely challenging to hit certain spots.
I should also note that he is a big guy. Standing a legit 6'5", he towers over most of us, including Ed and Heather. Ed and Heather aren't short, it just looks that way in the photo below.
Prior to the last Days event, Ed and Heather announced they were leaving the Days con, along with a few others, including co-founder Adolfo. My reporter sense tells me something else is in the works. To guess it would involve wrestling would not be a huge leap, but I do not have any concrete information on that, just a guess from Magic JohngyBall.
Days will live on, but I will miss seeing these two at fture events. They can't escape me forever though. If there is another event on the horizon, you know I'll be "On the Beat" there, catching up with my old friends and creating new memories.
Go to DaysoftheDead.com or the Days of the Dead Facebook page for more info on this great convention. The next event is May 3-5 in Charlotte, NC.

Friendly Encounters: Madusa and Heather Owens

Friendly Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

People who go to comic cons (or similar) meet lots of celebrities. Generally speaking, you will meet celebrities who mean something to you. On occasion, you will meet celebrities who really mean a lot to you. Such was the case earlier this year when Hardcore Heather Owens met wrestling legend Madusa at Days of the Dead.
Heather has been a fixture on the indy wrestling scene for several years. She's a hard worker, who can work either side, but is probably better as a villain. Outside of the ring though, Heather is an absolute sweetheart.
Heather is one of the unsung heroes at Days of the Dead. She is always busy making sure things run smoothly. While she is always a blur of activity, she always has time for a picture with her fans (like me) who recognize her there.
Heather has been a big fan of WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Madusa. I'll let her express herself here though.
What a sweetheart! 💕 Madusa is such an inspiration and just a super down to earth Classy Broad ❤ Sooo...if you are at DAYS OF THE DEAD right now...you NEED to meet her. DO IT! 🤗
The funny thing is that I could use those exact words to describe Heather. I have seen her at wrestling shows. I see the response she gets.
Basically, I would say these are two #ClassyBroads and 2 real sweethearts.
Days of the Dead returns to Chicago November 16-18. Check DaysoftheDead.com for more info. Heather will be ther, as will plenty of other celebrities. Of course, I'll be "On the Beat" as usual.

Friendly Encounters: Riki Rachtman and Heather Owens at Days of the Dead

Friendly Encounters is a weekly series featuring my friends who have met celebrities. With Days of the Dead coming to Indianapolis Friday, June 22 through Sunday, June 24, this is a special DotD edition.

Hardcore Heather Owens is a crossover from people I know through Days of the Dead and wrestling. Oddly, I usually have more time to catch up when she is wrestling. At Days of the Dead, she is usually a blur of activity as she helps keep things running smoothly.
It's a bit of a thankless job (although promoter Adolfo does thank her and all else publicly, because he is just that kind of guy). Heather does manage to squeeze in some fun (okay, a lot of fun) at the DotD events, but that's because she is "hardcore" and she is fun.
At the recent DotD in Charlotte, she met Riki Rachtman and captioned the picture as "it's not 1993, but that s Riki Rachtman." Rachtman first gained fame as a guest VJ on MTV and later as the host on Headbangers Ball. He has also done radio, as well as handling interview duties for wrestling and other things.
He has met a lot of rock stars and wrestlers, but I would love to get his thoughts on meeting the Hardcore One. I'm sure it would be all positive, but certainly entertaining.
Head to DaysOfTheDead.com to get all of the info, including the guest list, at the next Show in Indy and all other DotD shows. Also follow Days of the Dead on Facebook for frequent and quick updates.

Friendly Encounters: The Godfather and Hardcore Heather Owens

Friendly Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

Hardcore Heather Owens doesn't look all that "hardcore" in this picture.  In fact, she looks rather giddy.  Then again, she is with the Godfather.  I'll let that sit there.
Heather is one of my favorite wrestlers at Resistance and one of my favorite people at Days of the Dead.  She looks small, but she is a ball of energy and fun.  She works hard and is well-loved at both places.
I have long-predicted a run as Women's champ at RPro and I still think it could happen in The Resistance.  She's been a loyal and popular worker for several years there/  Similarly at DotD, Heather (along with her her Zubaz-wearing husband Ed Gonzales) has been a tireless worked from the debut of the great con.
None of that stops her from having a fun time everywhere she goes.  That brings us back to the picture with The Godfather (aka Charles Wright).  When you're talking The Godfather, you are talking fun.
I love this picture.  It just screams fun.  This is the type of fun that is always happening at Days of the Dead.
Despite Heather having a great time with The Godfather, she did not join the infamous Hooooo train.  She remained a #ClassyBroad.  (She might kick my butt if I said anything different!)
Go to DaysoftheDead.com to get all of the info on this great horror con.  They have yearly events in five cities and you would definitely see Heather, although she might be a blur.

Friendly Encounters: Gene Okerlund and Heather Owens

Friendly Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

I met Hardcore Heather Owens at Resistance Pro Wrestling, although I probably saw her at Days of the Dead prior to RPro.  I just didn't know her then.  Aside from being a talented wrester, Heather is one of the Days crew.
I have seen a lot of people (including me) ask Heather for a picture with her.  It is always cool to see that person get excited about taking a picture with another celebrity.  Such was the case when Heather met wrestling Hall of Famer Gene Okerlund.
Actually Gene looked just as happy.  Knowing Gene, he does have an eye for the ladies.  I'm sure Heather did not have to ask twice.
Both Gene and Heather are great.  Look how happy they both look in this picture.  I just love when the picture really shows happiness.  This picture is perfect.
There are five Days events every year.  I highly encourage everyone to attend one of them.  You might see Gene or another wrestling legend.  You will probably also see Heather, but look quickly, because she is usually a blur of activity making sure things run smoothly.
Mean Gene meets Hardcore Heather.  This is awesome!

Friendly Encounters: Mike Bucci and Hardcore Heather Owens

Friendly Encounters is a weekly series featuring friends who have met celebrities.

I'm starting off "Days of the Dead Week" by featuring a Days staffer, who happens to be a friend and a wrestler and another wrestler who happens to be a friend.  Confused?  It all makes sense at Days of the Dead.
Hardcore Heather is a wrestler I met through Resistance Pro.  Mike Bucci (aka Nova, Simon Dean and more) is a former wrestler I met through RPro.  Both have become friends of mine.
I knew Mike lived in the area, but I completely forgot that, until Heather texted me Saturday night to tell me Mike was there and looking for me.  I quickly got back to the hotel, because I hadn't seen Mike in a couple years.  We talked and laughed about old times, including our interview years back.
Wait, this is about Heather.  Well, I owe Heather for me reconnecting with Mike.  Heather also had a good time with the rest of the wrestlers and crew, as is the usual practice at the Days of the Dead events.  It really is like a family reunion.
Ironically, I somehow missed getting my own picture with Heather.  I know I already have a few with her, but I always like to get new ones at each event.
